Rajinikanth’s ‘Jailer’ Movie: Crosses ₹400 Crore at Box Office:
Rajinikanth’s action-packed movie, “Jailer,” had its ups and downs at the box office. On Monday, there was a noticeable drop in its collection, but it managed to recover well on Independence Day, Tuesday.
The film “Jailer,” featuring Rajinikanth, has been creating a buzz in the box office world with its impressive performance. According to early estimates from Sacnilk.com, the movie earned a substantial ₹33 crores on Independence Day. This achievement pushed its earnings beyond ₹200 crores on its sixth day of release. Jailer’s journey through the box office hasn’t been entirely smooth. By Thursday, it had collected about ₹48 crores. However, it experienced a positive response from audiences on Friday. Though it dipped slightly on Saturday, collecting ₹25.75 crores, it bounced back on Sunday with a collection of ₹34.3 crores. The film experienced another dip on Monday, with around ₹23.55 crores in earnings. But on Independence Day, it showed improvement with a collection of ₹33 crores. Currently, the movie has amassed around ₹207.15 crores in its six-day total collection across different languages in India.
Sacnilk.com also shared that on Tuesday, “Jailer” maintained a strong occupancy rate of 81.59% in Tamil Nadu. By surpassing Maniratnam’s “Ponnynin Selvan II,” it has become the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2023.
At the moment, Rajinikanth is taking a spiritual retreat in the Himalayas. He recently participated in prayers and sought blessings at the Badrinath Temple in Uttarakhand. This occurred just a day before his character’s release from jail, marking the beginning of his cinematic journey.

About “Jailer”: Despite being released a day after two major Hindi films, “Gadar 2” and “OMG 2,” “Jailer” managed to make an impact at the box office. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the film casts Rajinikanth in the role of a police officer’s father. This action-packed entertainer also features Tamannaah Bhatia, Jackie Shroff, Ramya Krishnan, Priyanka Mohan, Shiv Rajkumar, Yogi Babu, Vasanth Ravi, and Vinayakan in significant roles. Malayalam superstar Mohanlal makes an extended appearance in the film.
Although the exact budget isn’t officially confirmed, “Jailer” is believed to have been made with around ₹200 crores. According to a report from Times of India, Rajinikanth received a payment of ₹110 crores for his role in the movie.
